Senior Mainframe Architect

The Senior Mainframe Architect role is hybrid in Auburn Hills, MI. Compensation is not specified. This hands-on subject matter expert sets the mainframe architecture, standards, and roadmap and provides technical direction to an external managed services partner. The role guides modernization and integration so the mainframe estate can deliver secure, scalable, and highly available services across enterprise and cloud environments.

What you'll do

• Define target-state architecture and a multi-year roadmap for z/OS, CICS, DB2, IMS, and WebSphere Liberty
• design secure, scalable, highly available integrations with enterprise and cloud platforms
• evaluate modernization options and develop cost, risk, and value cases
• establish architecture standards and governance
• serve as escalation point for complex incidents, performance issues, and root-cause analysis
• guide teams on transaction processing, databases, and JCL
• architect WebSphere Liberty workloads and REST/JSON services
• guide COBOL application design, maintenance, and modernization
• provide technical direction to the external managed services partner.
