The Site Safety Specialist / SSHO is an onsite role based in El Paso, TX, supporting the Johnson Controls Federal Systems team. The role offers an annual salary range of $75,000 - $95,000 and supports the federal government in modernizing military installations and Department of Defense facilities. This role exists to implement the Site/Task Specific Safety Program, including the creation of Accident Prevention Plans (APP) and Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA), and to serve as the designated on-site competent person and Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to ensure compliance with safety directives.

What you'll do

• Implement the Site/Task Specific Safety Program for the location, including the creation of Site Specific Accident Prevention Plans (APP) and Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA).
• Oversee and authorize the procurement of project safety supplies and equipment.
• Implement site safety training for direct employees and sub-contractors.
• Serve as the designated on-site competent person and Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO).
• Enforce safety directives per JCFS Safety Program, site-specific APPs, and EM 385-1-1.
• Conduct daily safety and health inspections, mishap investigations, and complete required reports.
• Maintain the OSHA form 300.
• Maintain a safety and health deficiency tracking system.
• Ensure sub-contractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
• Facilitate the Office Safety Committee at the local level.
• Develop professional working relationships with government and subcontractor safety organizations.
