The Medical Assistant — Street Medicine role is onsite in El Cajon, CA, with community-based field work. Pay is $24.95–$34.93 per hour, depending on experience. Neighborhood Healthcare’s mission is to improve community health and happiness by providing quality care to all, regardless of circumstance. This combined Medical Assistant and Enhanced Care Management Community Health Worker role supports the Street Medicine team by connecting people experiencing unsheltered homelessness with care and community resources, while assisting the physician assistant with patient-centered clinical services.

What you'll do

  • Conduct community outreach and patient follow-ups
  • help patients navigate healthcare and community resources
  • schedule appointments and document encounters
  • coordinate referrals and transportation resources
  • take vital signs and medical histories
  • perform blood draws, vaccines, nebulizer treatments, ear lavages, and EKGs
  • support provider workflows
  • maintain and stock the mobile medicine vehicle
  • share patient barriers with the care team.
