The Head Teacher, Head Start/HSSAP role is onsite in Homer City, PA, with compensation of $20.16–$22.03 per hour. The teacher works with the program manager and other Head Start staff to carry out education program objectives under Head Start Performance Standards. The role plans and implements responsive early childhood instruction, maintains a safe and nurturing classroom, and uses child assessment information to guide learning. It also supervises classroom staff and supports children’s education, care, and development.

What you'll do

• Plan and implement an early childhood education program responsive to children’s emotional, social, intellectual, and physical needs
• use assessment data to prepare weekly lesson plans and submit them through Teaching Strategies/Smart Teach
• create a positive, nurturing classroom environment
• attend staff meetings and participate in training and coaching
• provide classroom coverage at other program locations as needed
• supervise and evaluate assistant teachers and paraprofessionals with the program manager
• ensure children’s safety, education, and care
• maintain classroom organization, supplies, and equipment
• provide timely developmental and behavioral screening.
