Employment Navigator – Resettlement

Job overview

The Employment Navigator – Resettlement role is onsite in Sioux City, IA, with pay of $22 per hour. Lutheran Services in Iowa’s Immigrant and Refugee Community Services programs support employment services for refugee populations. The navigator helps newly arrived refugees and other qualified immigrants work toward self-sufficiency through employment preparation, job placement coordination, and career advancement support. Client plans, coaching, workshops, and community partnerships help address barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment.

What you'll do

• Conduct client intake, assessment, and program orientation
• develop employment plans and budget strategies
• provide job readiness and job search coaching
• connect clients with job opportunities
• plan to address employment barriers
• document services and meet program timeframes and policies
• maintain refugee information systems and track progress
• facilitate workshops and work-readiness courses
• build relationships with community partners, educational organizations, and employers.

Why this role

Bachelor’s degree in a health or human service-related field and at least one year of professional workforce development or employment services experience required. Linguistic skills suited to client needs are desired but not required. Occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends may be needed.
