The Senior Software Engineer, Instrumentation role is onsite in San Diego, CA. The salary range is $150,000–$200,000 per year. The engineer builds software that controls and supports an autonomous cell-therapy manufacturing instrument. The work spans instrument architecture, hardware integration, process data, testing, and regulated software practices to help make the platform reliable as its science and requirements evolve.

What you'll do

• Contribute to instrument software architecture from firmware through control, data, and operator interface
• develop recipe execution, state-machine control, and safety behavior
• integrate host software with microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, and imaging
• build traceable process-data pipelines
• support simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and application testing
• maintain test harnesses, CI/CD, code review, and release practices
• contribute to regulated lifecycle documentation, risk analysis, and audit trails.
