Senior Systems Administrator

Job overview

The Senior Systems Administrator role is onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD. Compensation is $168,000–$250,000 per year. Peterson Technologies provides mission-critical solutions, data and network security software, and technical guidance for customers. The administrator maintains production and non-production systems, supports Linux environments and core system services, and guides other systems administrators through complex issues. This work helps maintain reliable, secure IT infrastructure and operational support.

What you'll do

• Administer and support production and non-production environments under agency IT policies and guidelines
• maintain CentOS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments
• manage backups, recovery, and file-system maintenance
• install and test software upgrades and computer components
• maintain accounts, passwords, keys, certificates, certificate authorities, and truststores
• support system accreditation and related tools
• guide systems administrators on complex issues
• document infrastructure and troubleshooting
• assist with systems-administration tickets.

Why this role

Requires TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, a technical bachelor’s degree and 15 years of experience, or five additional years of systems-administration experience in place of the degree. Linux, VMware, KVM, NetApp, Ansible, Docker/Kubernetes, GitLab, DNS, and NTP are preferred skills.
