Machinist Journeyman, 2nd Shift is an onsite position in York, PA, with a pay rate of $43.31 per hour plus a $2.00/hour shift differential. This is a union position. Johnson Controls Navy Systems supports the US Navy with mission-critical cooling and refrigeration equipment. This role involves operating and setting up CNC machines to fabricate, assemble, and weld complex piping and components for Navy equipment, adhering to strict specifications and quality standards.

What you'll do

• Use tool preset machine, precision measuring instruments, hand and hand power tools, deburr tools and appropriate material handling equipment
• Work from drawings, process sheets, specifications, tape program, instructions, or visual display units
• Perform fixture change-overs, loading and unloading of production parts, on-line piece parts inspection and manual data input to ensure specified finishes, tolerances
• Maintain tooling and backup tooling (where necessary)
• Monitor control messages and take appropriate corrective action
• Perform utility functions to maintain process
• Will perform housekeeping and deburr internal to machining operations
• Fills out PM check lists and may assist in the PM of the machine
• Use precision measuring instruments, gauges, hand tools, tool setting equipment, appropriate material handling equipment.

What we're looking for

Experience

Ability to read shop prints, mathematics, handbook formulas, precision measuring instrument, process sheets, program tapes; Knowledge of N/C controlled machines and shop practices equivalent to 1 to 2 years trades training; Ability to setup and operate any tape of tape controlled milling and frilling machines for all specified machining operations. Judgment required to plan, perform, make general decisions within prescribed quality, tolerance, limitations; Ability to perform moderate physical effort working continuously with light weight or frequently with average weight materials; U.S. citizen; Proof of a Journeyman's Certification.
