Preschool Substitute Teacher

The Preschool Substitute Teacher role is onsite in Alexandria, VA, with assignments across the organization’s eight classrooms. Pay is $18 per hour. The Child and Family Network Centers’ mission is to provide high-quality early childhood education for all children. The substitute supports classroom learning and daily care while maintaining a safe, healthy environment for children of all abilities. Working under the guidance of lead teachers and the Teacher Supervisor, the role helps sustain classroom routines and program standards when coverage is needed.

What you'll do

• Maintain a clean and sanitary classroom
• assist with preparing and implementing materials and activities
• follow curriculum decisions and support behavior intervention plans
• help meet children’s daily care needs
• supervise groups of 5–10 children
• engage playfully with children under teacher guidance
• follow program, licensing, and NAEYC standards
• communicate professionally with the teaching team, families, and other staff
• maintain confidentiality.
