Accounts Payable Specialist

The Accounts Payable Specialist role is hybrid in Devens, MA. Compensation is $40–$60 per hour. Commonwealth Fusion Systems is working to deliver fusion energy and develop commercially viable fusion power plants. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Supervisor, the specialist processes assigned invoices accurately and on time, resolves discrepancies with vendors and internal partners, and supports month-end close. The role also identifies recurring issues and recommends practical process improvements while preserving approvals and documentation controls.

What you'll do

• Process approximately 200–300 invoices weekly
• verify invoice details and investigate duplicate alerts
• perform two-way and three-way matching
• resolve or escalate discrepancies
• coordinate with Procurement, Receiving, requesters, and vendors
• respond to payment inquiries and obtain corrected invoices or credit memos
• support month-end accruals and reconciliations
• identify recurring exceptions and recommend process improvements
• maintain documentation and required controls.
