Substance Use Counselor

The Substance Use Counselor role is an onsite, full-time position in Rochester, NY. The posting lists pay of $22.50–$24 per hour and a Sunday–Thursday schedule from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Catholic Charities Family and Community Services has served its community for more than 100 years and supports people on their journey toward independence. The counselor provides residential and clinical support to people with substance use disorders, coordinating treatment and life-skills services with program staff and community partners. The role helps maintain a trauma-informed, safe therapeutic environment and supports clients’ participation in treatment and recovery services.

What you'll do

• Carry a client caseload
• provide individual therapy and case management
• support admissions, discharges, treatment plans, and medication processes
• complete service documentation
• coordinate with agency staff and community providers
• facilitate life-skills education and programming
• monitor residents and document incidents
• participate in the on-call schedule and provide crisis intervention and conflict management as needed.
