Electrical Engineer Intern

Job overview

The Electrical Engineer Intern role is onsite in Muscatine, IA, working 40 hours per week Monday through Friday from May through August; compensation is $17–$20 per hour. The internship is with Muscatine Power and Water’s A/O Engineering department and introduces students to municipal electric utility operations. The intern assists with engineering projects and gains exposure to electric transmission and distribution planning, analysis, reliability, protection, and facility maintenance. The experience also may include water systems, metering, and technical services based on the intern’s interests.

What you'll do

• Assist civil and electrical engineers with field projects
• support modeling and system analysis for electric and water systems
• conduct customer power quality analyses and GPS field assistance
• learn transformer, switchgear, and cable procurement and inventory processes
• participate in job-shadow opportunities in metering and technical services as available.
