The Special Hazards Fire Suppression Designer works onsite in an office setting in Chino, CA. Pay is $95,000–$105,000 per year. EMF Fire Solutions designs special-hazard suppression systems and supports construction projects. The designer develops system layouts and project documentation used by construction teams, coordinating with project managers, foremen, customers, and field personnel. The work helps the Construction department deliver compliant systems, maintain project flow, and support customer service.

What you'll do

• Design special-hazard fire suppression systems to applicable codes
• conduct field surveys
• create 2-D and 3-D and some hand-drafted drawings
• perform clean-agent flow calculations and fire detection and control layouts
• prepare conceptual, shop, and as-built drawings
• submit plans to fire authorities and pull permits
• assist with equipment selection
• assemble specifications and O&M manuals
• coordinate with field personnel
• procure equipment, assign purchase orders, update construction logs and client information, and review redline drawings after installation.

Why this role

Requires an associate degree or better in drafting and design, five years of computer-based drafting, five years of NFPA 72 fire alarm design or NFPA 2001 clean-agent design, a valid driver’s license, and drug screening. NICET certifications and specified design software credentials are preferred.
