Staff Accountant – Construction Tax & Accounting

The Staff Accountant – Construction Tax & Accounting role is primarily onsite in Virginia Beach, VA, with occasional work-from-home flexibility when personal circumstances require it. The accountant prepares tax returns and financial reporting work for construction clients, supporting their compliance and financial information needs. The role also contributes to client service and firm engagements through reconciliations, workpapers, and collaboration with experienced accountants and firm leadership.

What you'll do

• Prepare federal and multistate business tax returns, including Forms 1120S, 1120, and 1065, and individual tax returns
• assist with financial statement preparation, compilations, reviews, and audit engagements for construction clients
• prepare journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, financial schedules, and supporting workpapers
• work with accountants and firm leadership on accounting and tax questions
• communicate with clients about financial reporting and tax compliance
• use accounting and tax software to prepare accurate, timely work.

Why this role

Construction-industry public accounting experience is required. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and be a CPA or CPA candidate. CCH ProSystem fx Tax or Engagement experience is a plus.
