Utility Operator – Water and Sewer

The Utility Operator – Water and Sewer role is onsite in Pewaukee, WI. The listed pay range is $27.10–$36.12 per hour, with pay commensurate with experience. The position supports the City of Pewaukee’s Water & Sewer Utility team. The operator maintains and repairs municipal water and sanitary sewer facilities, monitors systems, and supports regulatory compliance. This work helps keep utility infrastructure functioning and responds to customer water and sewer concerns.

What you'll do

• Operate SCADA systems and inspect pump stations daily
• maintain and repair water and sewer infrastructure, including hydrants, valves, pumps, and piping
• perform water sampling, testing, and meter reading
• assist with DNR reporting and compliance
• locate underground utilities and inspect new connections
• handle water treatment chemicals and supervise flushing programs
• perform Cross Connection Control inspections
• respond to customer water and sewer complaints.

Why this role

Work hours are 6:30 a.m.–3 p.m., Monday–Friday. All operators participate in an on-call rotation and must reside within 40 minutes of City Hall. Operator levels have different experience and certification requirements.
