Substance Abuse Counselor — Outpatient

The Substance Abuse Counselor — Outpatient role is onsite in Salem, OR. Pay is $25.74–$29.84 per hour, with an additional stipend available for Spanish/English bilingual employees. The counselor supports Bridgeway Community Health’s outpatient treatment team and its mission to help people affected by addiction, problem gambling, and psychiatric illness. The counselor builds therapeutic alliances and supports clients in making positive changes and reducing harms associated with substance use. Through evidence-based, trauma-informed counseling and coordination with other providers, the role contributes to clients’ treatment and recovery goals.

What you'll do

• Provide client-centered, evidence-based, trauma-informed care
• use motivational interviewing
• conduct ASAM and DSM-5 assessment interviews
• coordinate with other providers
• deliver therapeutic interventions
• facilitate evidence-based groups and individual counseling
• maintain timely documentation and status reports
• monitor random urinalysis testing
• coordinate with referral sources and multidisciplinary staff.

Why this role

Associate’s degree or higher in Human Services or related field; CADC I or higher certification with MHACBO required; 1–3 years of counseling experience generally expected.
