School-Based Counselor

The School-Based Counselor role is onsite at East High School in Rochester, NY. Pay is $20–$21 per hour. The Center for Youth partners with young people to help them realize their potential by creating opportunities, removing barriers, and promoting social justice. The counselor provides school-based prevention counseling, crisis intervention, and case management to youth. Through assessment, individualized service planning, and coordination with school and community resources, the role supports students’ needs and access to services.

What you'll do

• Conduct intake and comprehensive assessments
• provide individual and family prevention counseling
• assess substance use, problem gambling, and other risk factors
• coordinate and facilitate groups and workshops
• provide crisis intervention and triage
• provide case management
• serve as an agency liaison at meetings, open houses, and health fairs
• conduct school outreach
• transport program participants when necessary and consistent with agency and school policy.
