Excavation Laborer

Job overview

The Excavation Laborer role is onsite in Elk Grove Village, IL, with work across Cook, Lake, and McHenry Counties. Compensation is $18–$35 per hour, depending on experience. The role supports Mr. Rooter of Cook County’s sewer and water line repair and replacement crew. The laborer digs and backfills trenches, helps prepare safe job sites, handles tools and materials, and restores work areas after repairs. Working alongside plumbers, the role helps complete sewer and water line projects safely and efficiently.

What you'll do

• Dig and backfill trenches for sewer and water line repairs and replacements by hand and with equipment
• set up job sites with safety gear, shoring, barricades, and cones
• load, unload, and clean tools and materials
• restore sites by backfilling, compacting, raking, and cleaning
• work alongside plumbers and follow safety rules.
