Lead Preschool Teacher

The Lead Preschool Teacher role is onsite in Newport, RI, with a 40-hour Monday–Friday schedule from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Compensation is $23 per hour. The teacher works in the Education department at Martin Luther King Community Center. The teacher coordinates classroom curriculum and daily operations, leads assistants, and communicates with children and families. The role supports children’s social, cognitive, and emotional growth through developmentally appropriate activities and a safe, well-managed classroom.

What you'll do

• Develop and implement classroom activities based on early learning standards and developmentally appropriate practices
• plan individual and group activities
• model effective teaching and guide assistants
• communicate with parents through discussions, progress reports, and conferences
• maintain a healthy, safe classroom
• supervise assistants and volunteers
• maintain records and professional development
• assist with kitchen duties when needed.
