What you'll do

• Handle confidential medical information
• enter and update insurance information
• verify insurance eligibility online or by phone
• identify primary and secondary coverage and enter it in correct coordination-of-benefits order
• obtain claim numbers and verify workers’ compensation and auto claims
• identify pre-authorization needs and obtain or document authorization information
• follow up on verification issues and communicate findings to departments
• stay current on third-party billing requirements
• verify insurance and obtain pre- and retro-certification information for inpatient activity
• refer patients to financial counselors when appropriate.
