Quantum Software Engineer – Compiler & Control Systems

The Quantum Software Engineer – Compiler & Control Systems role is onsite in Chicago, IL, with an expectation to be in the office three days per week. The annual salary range is $145,000–$170,000. The role supports Infleqtion’s Compiler Team within its Quantum Software organization, advancing quantum computing software and hardware-control integration. This engineer designs, builds, and maintains quantum compilation software connecting quantum circuits, error-correction software, and hardware control systems. The work contributes to reliable execution and fault-tolerant quantum computing through software development, system design, research, and collaboration across technical teams.

What you'll do

• Conduct research and development in quantum compilation, execution, and fault-tolerant quantum computing
• design software interfaces and intermediate representations translating compiled circuits into control-system programs
• develop connections between error-correction circuits, decoding, and execution systems
• collaborate with hardware, control, and experimental teams
• build tools to validate, simulate, test, and debug circuit-to-control translations
• deploy software optimizations to Superstaq using documentation, testing, and code review
• contribute to proposals and global programs
• and share research through publications and conferences. Travel domestically and potentially internationally up to 10%.
