Second-Shift CNC Machinist

Job overview

The Second-Shift CNC Machinist role is onsite in Erie, PA. Compensation is up to $30 per hour based on experience, including a $2 shift differential. Custom Engineering is a heavy fabrication, welding, and machine shop serving industries including oil and gas, construction, mining, transportation, power generation, and entertainment. The machinist sets up and operates horizontal boring mills, vertical mills, and bridge mills, using drawings and measuring tools to produce workpieces that meet specified tolerances. The role contributes to quality machining and the shop's ability to complete complex short- and long-run work.

What you'll do

• Set up machines and remove workpieces according to procedure
• use calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges to verify tolerances
• perform in-process inspections and adjust offsets
• position and secure workpieces using measuring instruments, holding devices, hand tools, and cranes
• interpret blueprints, layouts, sketches, and work orders
• apply machining practices and tooling procedures for close tolerances.
