Residential Maintenance Mechanic

Job overview

The Residential Maintenance Mechanic role is onsite in Hawthorne, NY. Compensation is $25 per hour. Hawthorne Foundation serves children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities through educational, vocational, and life-skills programs. The mechanic maintains the organization’s campus, group homes, Day Hab, and Annex buildings, helping provide a safe and clean environment for students and consumers. The work includes basic building repairs, upkeep, and responding to safety issues under the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator’s direction.

What you'll do

• Paint and perform drywall work
• complete basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, roof, and tile repairs
• maintain the agency vehicle mileage log for off-site work
• use agency tools and equipment safely
• submit bills and purchase paperwork
• clean as needed
• remove snow as needed
• maintain campus, group homes, Day Hab, and Annex buildings
• identify safety issues
• follow supervisor instructions.
