Senior Survey Crew Chief

Job overview

The Senior Survey Crew Chief role is primarily field-based, with direct travel from home to jobsites and occasional office check-ins, in the Richmond, VA area. Compensation is $30–$38 per hour, with optional overtime. The role joins AMT’s Richmond survey team at an employee-owned engineering consulting firm. The crew chief leads field surveying for construction stakeout and related survey work, ensuring accurate data collection, quality, and safety. The role also supports project delivery by coordinating with project managers, contractors, and design teams and mentoring junior crew members.

What you'll do

• Perform survey computations for construction stakeout using a data collector
• support preparation of cutsheets and stakeout exhibits
• prepare daily notes, records, and sketches
• perform boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys
• lead and mentor junior crew members
• collaborate with project managers, contractors, and design teams to interpret plans and resolve field challenges
• follow jobsite safety protocols and AMT procedures.
