Special Education Instructor — Project SEARCH

The Special Education Instructor role is onsite in Rapid City, SD, with pay of $32.74 per hour. The instructor supports Black Hills Special Services Cooperative's Project SEARCH team, helping young adults with disabilities build employment and independence skills. The instructor delivers job-readiness, self-advocacy, and life-skills instruction, develops individualized education plans, and coordinates with families, vocational rehabilitation, and community partners. The role helps students prepare for employment and participate more independently in their communities.

What you'll do

• Teach interns ages 18–24 using varied instructional methods
• write IEPs and facilitate parent, internship, and steering committee meetings
• prepare student interviews and lesson plans
• plan individual and group learning activities
• assess progress and maintain records
• report attendance to Vocational Rehabilitation
• ensure a safe environment
• communicate with families, school staff, VR case managers, Project SEARCH partners, and hospital personnel.
