Forensic Nurse Examiner — ART ED

The Forensic Nurse Examiner — ART ED role is onsite in Charleston, SC, with 40 scheduled hours per week. Compensation is not specified. The position reports to the SANE Program Coordinator and supports MUSC’s Clinical Forensics Program. The examiner provides individualized nursing care and medical-forensic services to people affected by sexual assault, intimate partner violence, physical abuse, and violent crimes. Through assessment, evidence collection, documentation, follow-up resources, and testimony, the role supports patient care and the forensic process.

What you'll do

• Provide compassionate, holistic care
• obtain medical-forensic histories
• conduct head-to-toe assessments
• document findings
• take forensic photographs
• collect DNA or other evidence while maintaining chain of custody
• provide resources and follow-up care
• make notifications required by South Carolina law
• and testify about medical-forensic findings in criminal and family proceedings. Offer educational opportunities to MUSC staff and community partners. Requires a South Carolina or compact-state registered nurse license and current BLS certification.
