Senior Building Systems Technician

The Senior Building Systems Technician role is onsite in Blacksburg, VA, with an annual salary of $75,000–$90,000. The technician leads technical support for building systems across the Foundation’s real estate portfolio. By maintaining and improving HVAC, automation, and mechanical systems, the role supports reliable operations, tenant service, research and laboratory environments, and facility improvement work.

What you'll do

• Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial building systems and mechanical equipment
• diagnose heating, cooling, ventilation, humidity, temperature, and comfort issues
• support building automation systems and equipment including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, heat pumps, and air handling units
• conduct inspections and preventive maintenance
• document maintenance and work orders
• respond to tenant requests
• coordinate contractors and vendors
• support laboratory and research facilities
• maintain code and safety compliance
• participate in emergency response and severe-weather preparedness.
