The Optician role is onsite in Chicago, IL, paying $20–$24 per hour. The position supports Big City Optical’s work providing eye care in its communities. The role exists to help patients select and receive eyewear suited to their prescriptions and lifestyles. The optician works with optometrist recommendations, fits and adjusts eyewear, checks order quality, and supports patient service and store operations.

What you'll do

• Conduct pre-examination assessments
• work with the optometrist on patient vision needs
• help patients select frames and lenses
• measure and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses
• explain lens options
• monitor orders and update patients about delays
• assess orders before pickup
• support inventory tasks
• resolve customer issues
• maintain patient records, store operations, and insurance billing
• make follow-up calls.
