Housing Specialist II

The Housing Specialist II is an onsite role in Compton, CA. Pay is $24.86–$26.17 per hour. The role supports Volunteers of America Los Angeles’ human services programs for people in need and families. The specialist identifies housing options and helps program participants secure and sustain permanent housing. Working with landlords, clients, and case managers, the role coordinates housing-related support, referrals, and follow-up to advance participants’ independent living goals.

What you'll do

• Identify suitable housing options for homeless participants and refer to VOALA shelters when appropriate
• maintain a housing database
• communicate and work with landlords
• conduct habitability and lead-based paint inspections as needed
• coordinate move-ins, rental negotiations, and service referrals
• connect tenants and landlords with community resources
• support case management screenings and assessments
• coordinate follow-up services and participate in outreach.

Why this role

Requires a bachelor’s degree in social services or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience; two years of general case management experience is required. Spanish bilingual ability and HMIS experience are preferred.
