The Senior Manager, Mechanisms Engineering role is onsite in Seattle, WA; compensation is $220,000–$330,000 per year. The role supports Shield AI’s Launch and Recovery Vehicle team and its next-generation autonomous aircraft program. Shield AI’s mission is to protect service members and civilians with intelligent systems. This player-coach leads and contributes to mechanical design and development from concept through production release, while guiding a team of mechanical engineers. The role advances program goals by improving engineering practices, managing reliability and design risks, and coordinating with cross-functional partners to deliver buildable, testable systems for real-world operations.

What you'll do

• Design, analyze, and integrate mechanical systems and subsystems for the X-BAT Launch and Recovery Vehicle
• establish engineering standards, templates, specifications, and best practices
• own mechanical deliverables from concept and prototyping through test, production, and field support
• lead failure mode analysis and reliability modeling
• partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Program Management, and Flight Operations
• provide technical support during ground and flight testing, demonstrations, and field operations
• lead, mentor, recruit, and develop mechanical engineers
• set priorities, manage team bandwidth, identify risks, and communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs.
