Job overview
The Archaeological Field Technician role is onsite in Minot, ND, supporting fieldwork in Ward County. Pay is up to $27 per hour, based on experience. The temporary assignment is scheduled for September 27 through October 4, 2026, with limited potential for about one additional day. Working under a Crew Chief or Field Director, the technician documents and investigates archaeological sites and cultural materials. Accurate field records and adherence to project methods and safety procedures support the Ward County Connector Project’s archaeological fieldwork.
What you'll do
- Conduct pedestrian surveys and assist with identifying sites, features, and cultural materials
- assist with excavation, testing, and screening
- complete field notes, site forms, maps, and photographs
- collect and organize cultural materials
- use GPS units or tablets to record data
- follow field methods, safety procedures, and environmental requirements.
