The Early Childhood Teacher Assistant — Per Diem role is onsite in Cranston, RI, and pays $16.50–$23.00 per hour. The position may require work at any CCAP location. The assistant supports classroom planning and daily activities, helping maintain a safe and developmentally supportive environment for young children. The role assists with assessment, individualized learning, family engagement, and classroom supervision, and may substitute for the lead teacher when needed.

What you'll do

• Assist the teacher with classroom assessment, planning, and daily activities
• supervise classrooms of up to 20 preschool children or 8 infants and toddlers
• follow health and safety protocols
• support curriculum implementation and individualized learning using assessment data and IEP/IFSP
• document observations
• support social-emotional learning
• complete home visits and parent-teacher conferences
• attend meetings and training
• support kindergarten transitions
• report suspected abuse or neglect
• substitute for the lead teacher as needed.

Why this role

Per-diem/on-call position with evenings as needed and possible work at any CCAP location. CDA or Rhode Island State Teacher Assistant Certificate, associate degree in early childhood, early childhood experience, and English-Spanish bilingual ability are preferred.
