Food Pantry Volunteer – The Grove

The Food Pantry Volunteer role is onsite at The Grove in Ann Arbor, MI, on Fridays from 9 AM to 12 PM. This is an unpaid volunteer position; approved direct expenses related to the role will be reimbursed. Avalon Housing’s mission is to build healthy, safe, and inclusive supportive housing communities and help people stay and thrive in their homes. The volunteer helps Avalon’s Community Building team and tenant group operate the food pantry. The work supports pantry setup, food distribution and deliveries, client intake, and cleanup so residents can access the pantry in an organized and welcoming setting.

What you'll do

• Update refrigerator and freezer temperature logs
• prepare bags
• sort pantry food and set up the shopping area
• help unload deliveries
• monitor the pickup line and run orders
• enter clients into Link2Feed
• assist with loading deliveries
• store extra food
• clean surfaces and floors
• break down boxes and handle trash and recycling.
