The Traffic Signal Installer / Skilled Laborer role is onsite at construction sites and maintenance facilities in Hampton, VA. Pay is $18–$25 per hour. Curtis Contracting is a VDOT-prequalified Class A contractor with civil, heavy highway, road and bridge maintenance, and federal divisions. The installer builds and installs traffic signal systems, including foundations, conduit, cabling, poles, and arms. The work supports traffic signal infrastructure while maintaining traffic flow and following applicable specifications and safety standards.

What you'll do

• Install signal equipment, including trenching, conduit, concrete foundations, signal cable, mast poles, and arms for temporary and permanent installations
• work on live intersections while maintaining traffic flow
• operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, boom trucks, small construction equipment, and hand tools safely
• read plans and follow VDOT specifications, OSHA rules, and safety standards. Work is outdoors and may involve inclement weather and varying work hours.
