Truck Driver / Production Assistant

Job overview

The Truck Driver / Production Assistant role is onsite in Portland, ME. Pay is $16.75 per hour. The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers support an in-residence rehabilitation program through the collection and resale of donated goods. The role completes donation pickup and delivery routes while maintaining safe vehicle operation, accurate records, and courteous service. It also supports warehouse and thrift store operations and provides work-therapy guidance to a truck helper as directed.

What you'll do

• Drive assigned routes to pick up and deliver donations
• inspect and maintain the vehicle
• keep the cab and box clean
• plan routes and complete scheduled calls
• treat customers courteously and report pickup issues
• maintain delivery manifests, trip logs, and other records
• load and unload goods safely
• assist thrift store personnel with item placement and cleanup
• and instruct and supervise the truck helper as directed.

Why this role

Requires a valid driver's license for assigned vehicles, an acceptable driving record, passing a driving test, ability to lift 100 pounds, map-reading and route-planning ability, and use of an iPad with GPS and inspection tools. A medical card is required depending on local requirements; passing a DOT physical is required.
