The Youth Counselor, COMPASS Program role is onsite in New York, NY, with compensation of $17 per hour. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The role is part of Westhab’s Youth Services department, supporting its community development mission of building communities and changing lives. The counselor provides academic, enrichment, recreational, and leadership programming that supports youth growth and learning while promoting safety, hope, and motivation. The role also helps participants engage in activities and develop life skills.

What you'll do

• Support the wellbeing and safety of participating youth
• provide literacy- and STEM-focused academic instruction aligned with school curricula
• lead enrichment, recreation, and leadership development activities
• attend team meetings, training, and parent meetings
• respond to emergencies
• escort children to activities when needed
• perform light facilities upkeep and distribute snacks and program supplies.
