Prior Authorization Specialist - Pain Management

The Prior Authorization Specialist - Pain Management role is onsite in Boone, NC, with compensation of $17–$24 per hour. Envision Pain Management provides patient-centered pain and spine care through procedures, therapies, diagnostics, and personalized care plans. This role secures insurance approvals for procedures, diagnostic testing, and treatment plans so patients can access timely care. It coordinates authorization documentation and follow-up with patients, providers, payers, and internal teams, while monitoring trends to support workflow improvements.

What you'll do

• Verify insurance benefits, eligibility, coverage, and clinical information
• obtain prior authorizations for procedures, injections, imaging, and therapies
• notify relevant parties about routine and urgent requests within required timeframes
• communicate coverage issues
• assist with medical-necessity documentation and follow-up
• record authorization documentation in patient records
• appeal denials or arrange peer-to-peer reviews
• stay current on payer requirements and regulations
• collaborate with billing, clinical, and patient services teams
• report authorization trends to management
• maintain working relationships with staff, referral sources, insurers, and providers.
