Security Officer

Job overview

The Security Officer works onsite in Richmond, VA. Compensation is $15 per hour. The role supports the Virginia Museum of History & Culture’s Operations & Finance division and helps secure museum buildings and grounds. The officer patrols the campus, monitors security systems, and responds to emergencies to help protect staff, visitors, and museum property. The role also supports a welcoming visitor experience through access control, communication, and guest-facing service.

What you'll do

• Patrol campus and access points
• control entry to buildings and inform violators of policies
• monitor security risks and report potential problems
• monitor cameras, alarms, and fire systems
• write logs and reports
• monitor contractors, vendors, and visitors in non-public areas
• respond to emergencies
• receive and notify departments of deliveries and process and deliver mail and packages
• follow security and maintenance policies.

Why this role
