Certified Medical Assistant — Pediatric Urgent Care

The Certified Medical Assistant works onsite in Birmingham, AL, supporting pediatric urgent care. Compensation is $15–$20 per hour. KidsXpress Urgent Care’s stated mission is to provide children and families with fast, dependable care they can trust. The assistant provides clinical, laboratory, radiology, and administrative support to providers while helping deliver patient care and service. The role contributes to clinic workflow through patient intake, procedures, diagnostic testing, documentation, and coordination with patients and families.

What you'll do

• Room patients and obtain vital signs, histories, medications, allergies, and chief complaints
• assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments
• administer medications, immunizations, injections, and treatments within scope
• perform venipuncture, specimen collection, approved tests, nebulizer treatments, and wound care
• prepare patients for X-rays
• document in the EMR
• perform CLIA-waived testing and laboratory quality-control tasks
• support registration, scheduling, insurance verification, calls, referrals, inventory, and clinic operations
• follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection-control, and laboratory requirements.
