Fiber Optics Technician II

The Fiber Optics Technician II position is onsite in Chesapeake, VA; compensation is not specified. The role supports Prism Maritime’s shipboard and shore-based maritime installation and modernization work. The technician installs, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs fiber-optic systems, following technical documentation and NAVSEA specifications. The position also supports cable crews and provides guidance to entry-level installers and technicians.

What you'll do

• Install, remove, test, troubleshoot, and repair shipboard or shore fiber-optic systems in accordance with NAVSEA specifications
• build fiber-optic connectors and perform basic fusion-splicing tasks
• prepare for and assist with blown optical fiber installation
• test cables and connectors using instruments including VFLs, loss meters, and OTDRs
• work from blueprints and technical manuals
• support cable installation and routing
• provide guidance to entry-level installers and technicians. Travel outside the local area may be required
• overtime, including weekends, is routinely required but not guaranteed.
