The Preschool Teacher Assistant role is onsite in Knoxville, TN, for 37.5 hours per week. Compensation is $18.85 per hour. The role supports Knoxville-Knox County Head Start/Early Head Start in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. The assistant helps the teacher deliver developmentally appropriate activities that support children’s physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth. The role also supports family involvement, attendance, health and nutrition services, transportation, and coordination with Head Start team members in accordance with program policies.

What you'll do

• Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment, including classroom organization, schedules, routines, and child-management techniques
• provide health and nutrition services for children
• assist with developmentally appropriate learning activities based on individual needs
• assist with parent involvement services
• provide transportation services for children and parents consistent with program plans and policies
• assist with social services
• follow agency personnel policies and complete supervisor assignments.
