The Mission Operations Specialist – San Diego is a field-oriented remote role based out of San Diego, CA, with travel to customer sites. The stated base salary is $75,000–$110,000 per year. The role supports Shift5’s deployments of its onboard operational technology platform for cybersecurity, predictive maintenance, and compliance. The specialist installs, configures, tests, and sustains Shift5 solutions across customer platforms. By carrying out field integration, troubleshooting, verification, and documentation, the role helps customers maintain system readiness and supports fleet readiness, resilience, and mission assurance.

What you'll do

• Install hardware, sensors, networking equipment, and cabling on military and commercial platforms
• configure, install, and update software, operating systems, and system images
• execute installation procedures, startup checklists, and operational verification tests
• travel to customer sites to support integration, upgrades, and preventative maintenance
• troubleshoot basic hardware, software, network, and installation issues and escalate complex challenges
• document installations, configurations, and test results
• prepare and maintain deployment kits, tools, and equipment.
