The Payroll Manager role is onsite in Alameda, CA, with a base salary range of $120,000–$157,000 per year. BEI Construction is a multi-jurisdictional union construction firm specializing in electrical construction, technology infrastructure, underground construction, and renewable energy solutions. The manager leads payroll operations and supports implementation of new payroll and timekeeping software for union and non-union employees. The role safeguards accurate, timely, compliant payroll while coordinating with the Payroll Specialist, Controller, and Accounting team on funding, reporting, reconciliations, job costing, audits, and controls.

What you'll do

• Lead payroll and timekeeping software implementation, including configuration support, testing, parallel payroll, data validation, reporting, training, and stabilization
• oversee weekly payroll and off-cycle payments, adjustments, deductions, garnishments, reimbursements, and employee changes
• supervise the Payroll Specialist
• partner with Accounting on funding, taxes, job costing, labor allocation, reconciliations, reporting, audits, and controls
• ensure compliance with wage and hour, union, prevailing wage, certified payroll, public works, tax, and recordkeeping requirements
• resolve payroll and timekeeping inquiries.
