What you'll do

• Assess patients’ nutritional needs
• develop and implement dietary plans
• counsel patients according to physician orders and diet instructions
• coordinate with physicians and other care disciplines
• evaluate nutrition intake methods
• document in medical records
• adapt menus and assist with special dietary needs
• conduct calorie counts and recommend adjustments
• review menus for nutritional adequacy
• educate patients about post-discharge diets and monitor nutritional status.

Why this role

Requires registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and state licensure. A bachelor’s or advanced degree in Food and Nutrition is required; one year of clinical dietetics experience and Academy membership are preferred.
