The Seasonal Registered Nurse — Labor and Delivery — Per Diem Days role is onsite in Porterville, CA, for a 13-week seasonal assignment requiring three scheduled 12-hour shifts per week, from 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. Pay is $100 per hour. The nurse contributes to Sierra View Medical Center’s Department of Patient Care Services and Nursing profession. The role provides individualized nursing care for patients in the Labor and Delivery unit, applying clinical judgment and the nursing process to assess needs, deliver care, and evaluate outcomes. The nurse supports maternal, newborn, and family-centered care while coordinating with physicians and the broader healthcare team.
What you'll do
- Assess, treat, and care for patients across age groups
- develop and follow individualized care plans
- administer medications and perform unit-specific clinical skills
- evaluate and document care and communicate changes in patient status
- follow patient-safety and infection-prevention standards
- interpret fetal monitor strips
- support labor, delivery, postpartum, newborn, and couplet care
- function as a delivery-room team member and during C-sections
- teach labor breathing and relaxation techniques and encourage breastfeeding. Requires current California RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, NRP, and EFM as specified in the posting
- at least one year of RN experience in Labor and Delivery.
