The Lead Electrical Engineer – Building Power Systems role is onsite in Austin, TX. Compensation is not specified. The Building Electrical Group supports electrical systems for food and beverage production facilities, and Dennis Group plans, designs, engineers, and builds food plants. The role exists to lead technical delivery of concurrent building-electrical projects, from power, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage design through calculations, bid documents, procurement, construction observation, and startup support. It also contributes to department standards and guides subordinate team members.

What you'll do

• Lead design of normal, emergency, and standby power distribution systems
• document electrical calculations
• design lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems
• coordinate lighting fixtures with other trades
• produce bid documents
• procure long-lead fixtures and power equipment
• manage client electrical bid processes, observe construction, and assist with startup
• conduct project planning and feasibility studies
• support department standards
• research materials and practices
• assist with interviewing and hiring
• advise subordinate team members and provide mentoring when directed
• travel to customer project sites for fieldwork, reviews, audits, and meetings, estimated at 25%–35%.
