The Art Preparator (Part-Time) role is onsite in Hartford, Connecticut, and pays $24 per hour. The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art’s preparator team supports the care, installation, and documentation of the museum’s collection and exhibitions. The role helps protect artworks and deliver the museum’s exhibition schedule, gallery rotations, loans, and storage projects. It handles, installs, packs, and moves art; prepares exhibit supports; records collection movements; and supports gallery and storage inventories.

What you'll do

• Handle, install, house, pack, and move artworks
• install gallery lighting
• prepare and install casework, platforms, pedestals, labels, and exhibit supports
• operate mechanical devices used to install or move art
• record art location changes
• conduct storage and gallery inventories
• follow purchasing and expense procedures
• collaborate on artwork housing and storage needs
• maintain preparatory workspaces and storage areas
• screen cargo shipments in compliance with TSA’s CCSP.
