The Nonprofit Controller is an onsite role in Saint Louis, MO, with compensation of $60–$70 per hour. The Controller reports to the Executive Director at SouthSide Early Childhood Center, which creates equitable and inclusive learning opportunities and support services for children and families. The role leads accounting and financial management so leadership and program teams have reliable reporting and practical financial guidance. Budgeting, grant accounting, forecasting, and stronger financial systems support the organization’s programs and long-term sustainability.

What you'll do

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations
• manage monthly and year-end close
• prepare financial reports and explain variances and trends
• lead annual budget development and maintain forecasts
• monitor cash flow, reserves, receivables, and payment obligations
• account for restricted contributions, grants, government contracts, and program revenue
• coordinate cost allocations and funder reporting
• maintain internal controls and procedures
• coordinate audit preparation and serve as a primary contact for external auditors
• identify process and reporting improvements
• support evaluation of financial risks and organizational sustainability.
