The Homeownership Coach role combines in-person sessions at or near Rising Oaks in New Orleans, LA, with remote work. Pay is $30–$40 per hour under an independent contractor agreement; the schedule is 20–25 hours per month. New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity is launching a three-year Managed Ownership Readiness pathway for working families. The coach guides five families from move-in toward refinancing into permanent mortgages by building trust, creating readiness plans, and supporting progress on credit, savings, and homeowner skills. The role works alongside the Financial Readiness Specialist, Home Operations Specialist, and Program Administrator.

What you'll do

• Build trust with each family and create an individual readiness plan
• meet one-on-one on a regular schedule using motivational interviewing or a similar method
• lead periodic group workshops
• support families’ milestones with warmth and accountability
• coach on insurance, property taxes, and homestead exemption
• identify early signs of difficulty and coordinate with the MOR team
• record progress in the MOR App.
