Roller Grinding Operator — Night Shift

The Roller Grinding Operator role is onsite in Petersburg, VA, with pay of $20–$24 per hour plus a $1.00 shift differential. Amsted Rail Petersburg produces tapered roller bearings and precision sealing solutions for freight rail. The operator runs and maintains grinding equipment to produce precision metal parts that meet customer specifications and company standards. The role checks part dimensions and defects, adjusts equipment, records production information, and performs department-specific equipment and maintenance tasks.

What you'll do

• Operate and maintain a grinding line for metal work pieces
• measure processed parts with gauges and check for defects
• assist setup personnel with changeovers
• use hand and power tools safely
• monitor conveyors and machine operation
• adjust machine settings when equipment malfunctions or parts are out of specification
• record production information
• select programs for machine controls
• perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment or part-compliance issues
• replace worn grinding wheels
• operate forklifts and monitor gantry devices and robots.
